Department: UADA | AES | FDSC | Food Engineering (Ali Ubeyitogullari) Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Department of Food Science at the University of Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station is seeking a highly motivated and outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work in the food engineering program of Dr. Ali Ubeyitogullari. The successful candidate will work on supercritical carbon dioxide technology. The postdoctoral researcher will focus on developing and optimizing supercritical carbon dioxide systems for processing food ingredients. Responsibilities: Conduct research on supercritical carbon dioxide, and characterize samples for chemical and physical properties. Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, present data at professional conferences, and help in writing grant reports. Train undergraduate and graduate students in the lab on food engineering methods. Maintain good lab practices and standard operating procedures, and laboratory equipment. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications The candidate should have (i) a PhD degree in food science, food engineering, or a related field, (ii) strong research experience in food engineering, novel food processing technologies (specifically supercritical carbon dioxide processing and fractionation), and food analysis (i.e., GC, HPLC, DSC), (iii) a consistent record of publications in high-quality journals, and (iv) good communication skills both in writing and speaking. The selected candidate must be able to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with additional experience in extracting bioactive compounds, fractionation, and lipid analysis are desired.
