This is a full-time, exempt position.
The Animal Nutrition division is part of the ADM's global Nutrition business with its human nutrition and health & wellness divisions. The Global Animal Nutrition Science and Technology team is focused on development of cutting-edge technologies to provide science-based solutions to our customers in the animal nutrition industry.
ADM is seeking an Analytical Chemist, located at our research facility in Montgomery City, MO, to execute analysis of animal feed, feed additives, and biological samples in support of new product development. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry and in applying HPLC, GC-FID, ICP, and/or NIR techniques for measurement of key analytes. In this role the candidate will work cross-functionally with other scientists, farm operations personnel, and scientific leaders to support multiple projects across species. Some daily tasks will include sample preparation for analysis, creating and executing protocols, data entry and management, and drafting of experimental reports. The person will be expected to report technical data to colleagues. Also, experience with searching scientific literature to assist in developing new protocols is desired. A successful candidate will work well within a diverse team, demonstrate self-motivation, and be able to manage multiple tasks. Organization and attention to detail is important.
Your Responsibilities
Perform experiments assessing composition of animal feed, ingredients, and additives using analytical techniques such as GC, HPLC, ICP, and NIR.
Perform biological sample processing and analyses in support of new product development
Maintain laboratory equipment required for animal food ingredient and diet evaluations
Coordinate data collection from internal research investigations and outside laboratories
Deliver technical reports to lead scientists
Monitor scientific literature for new techniques and technical approaches
Your Profile
B.S. in relevant area (e.g. animal nutrition, chemistry, biology, microbiology)
Experience with analyses utilizing HPLC, GC, ICP and/or NIR is required
Demonstrated ability to execute and interpret laboratory experiments
Willingness to work with biological materials and samples
Working knowledge of livestock food ingredients and/or food chemistry
Able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs
Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication
Strong affinity for lab work in industrial environments; results-oriented mind set
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Team player and able to work in global, multidisciplinary teams
