Position Summary:
The R&D Scientist works independently developing and validating high throughput analytical toxicology assays monitoring for pharmaceuticals and drugs of abuse in biological matrices.
Candidates given the best consideration will have the following skills and experience:
Analytical toxicology method development and validation primarily using LC-MS/MS.
Experience with Sciex brand mass spectrometers and Hamilton automation is highly preferred.
Programming skills for creating basic applications is a plus.
Collaborator who can accomplish tasks with other teammates.
Motivated and highly engaged.
Takes initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and refining sample preparation procedures, workflows, automation, and analysis via High Performance Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather analytical and workflow requirements, design tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
Identifies, develops, and conducts novel experiments optimizing analytical workflows for fast turnaround time, cost efficiency, scalability, and eventual approval by regulatory agencies.
Establishes expertise in the operation of analytical instrumentation and automation.
Devise and execute training of production staff to develop and elevate their technical skills.
Records and summarizes validation data ensuring the quality and regulatory acceptance of methods.
Maintains strong relationships with instrument vendors and support specialists.
Continually assesses one's own skills/abilities.
Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, distributing, and reading current literature, conducting, and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
May supervise technical staff in the laboratory.
Drafts SOP(s) for new procedures/tests.
Demonstrates ability to interact effectively with executive leaders and department heads.
Assist with and take on ownership of collaboration projects as they arise within the department and company.
Completes R&D tasks and training goals in a timely manner.
Education:
Minimum of a bachelors degree in a chemistry related field with at least three years of experience developing bioanalytical assays.
Masters or PhD involving analytical chemistry is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience developing high quality assays for bioanalytical toxicology.
Pay Range: $110k-$120k annually (USD)
All job offers will be based on a candidates skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
