This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. What Youll Work On
This position is an entry level training position leading to Chemist II level. Responsible for sampling and testing ingredients and packaging materials as prescribed in the various quality procedures and assuring specifications and quality guidelines are met. The incumbent is responsible for producing the highest quality results while operating within the constraints of the manufacturing schedule and safety guidelines. The incumbent is responsible for developing positive relations with other individuals within the department and outside of the department in other plant disciplines.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Responsible for properly sampling, testing and release of ingredients and packaging materials.
- Responsible for analytical analysis of the ingredients and physical evaluation of the packaging materials as defined by testing procedures.
- The incumbent is responsible for assuring all work in their work area is completed in timely manner and coordinating their workload.
- Minor troubleshooting of equipment with some assistance from incoming chemist III and supervision.
- The incumbent will recognize and report method procedure problems, out of specification conditions or other anomalies to brought tot the attention of supervision.
- Responsible for maintaining test equipment and work areas. Responsible for input of quality data into quality/inventory computer systems.
Youll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/ GED plus 1 year of college chemistry with appropriate labs and 1 year of college math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry or calculus), plus 2 years of related analytical work
OR
- Technical Associates Degree plus 1 year of college chemistry with appropriate labs and 1 year of college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry or calculus) plus 2 years of related analytical work
OR
- B. S. or B.A. Degree with at least a physical science minor, plus 2 years of related analytical work.
