Job Description
  • Perform rodent surgical and technical procedures, including intravenous IV), subcutaneous (SC), intraperitoneal (IP), intracerebroventricular (ICV), and intrathecal (IT) injections.
  • Perform central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral tissue dissection
  • Perform stereotactic and microscopic surgeries.
  • Perform blood collection and processing (i.e., centrifuging whole blood, pipetting plasma)
  • Troubleshoot and refine in vivo techniques.
  • Maintain precise and organized documentation of experimental procedures and results in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).
  • Work independently as well as within a flexible team-oriented environment.
  • Ensure adherence to animal welfare policies, research protocols, and laboratory best practices.

Additional Physical Requirements:

  • Requires fine motor skills and dexterity of fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Frequently required to use repetitive hand/wrist/arm motion.
  • Walking, climbing stairs, and moving materials and supplies between research buildings.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology. M.S. in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology. Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field with a minimum of 1+ years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology.
  • Comfortable working in an industry laboratory animal research environment.
  • Skilled and proficient with rat and mouse dosing (IV, SC, IP routes).
  • Skilled and proficient with stereotactic injections (validation with established protocols will be required).
  • Skilled and proficient with microscopic CNS surgery and fine CNS dissection techniques (validation with established protocols will be required).
  • Expertise in brain and spinal cord anatomy.
  • Experience with ELN entry (Benchling is preferred).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, independence, accountability and responsibility for own work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and good documentation practices.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety and animal welfare policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ICV (mouse) and IT (rat) injections.
  • Experience working with neuroscience-relevant in vivo models and assays to support drug discovery programs.
  • Interest to expand scientific knowledge and surgical and technical procedure portfolio.

Additional Details:

This is a full-time, onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), with occasional weekends and overtime required as needed. Candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston, MA are strongly encouraged to apply.
