This project uses human specimens, the mouse aortocaval model, as well as in vitro and computational models.
Technical Duties: (include any protocols)
This project requires scientific laboratory performance at an advanced level requiring advanced molecular skills and analysis such as qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and microsurgery in small animals including husbandry and analysis of different strains of mice (including diabetic mice and knockout mice), as well as imaging techniques including ultrasound and CT scans. Statistical and computational analyses are required. Advanced surgical experience is required to perform both small animal surgery and to participate in large animal surgeries; analysis of human samples (obtained from the operating room) is also required.
**Qualifications**
Experience Required:
Experience with clinical surgery (in humans) required, vascular surgery preferred, with successful completion of postgraduate training. Experience with molecular biology techniques required, including use of qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and tissue culture. Experience with small animal surgery (in mice) required. Experience using doppler ultrasound required. Experience writing and maintaining animal protocols and approvals is required, as well as experience writing and publishing papers in the medical and scientific literature.
