Job Title: Associate Scientist Vector Development
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Reports to: Senior Scientist
Job Summary
The Gene Therapy group at SonoThera is seeking to hire a Associate Scientist to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in molecular cloning.
Responsibilities
- Develop new gene therapy vectors with improved expression and safety profiles
- Perform and optimize molecular cloning workflows, including PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, ligation, HiFi, Golden Gate & Gibson assembly, transformation, DNA purification.
- Communicate updates and results at group meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments and ensure that laboratory procedures and protocols are followed.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate experimental outcomes to internal teams and senior management.
- Present information and data in both written and verbal form
- Document experimental and process data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in biological sciences (e.g. Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physiology, or related field) with 3-8 years of relevant postgraduate research or industry experience.
- Industry experience preferred.
- Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to achieve technical and corporate milestones.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Technical Requirements and Skills:
- Experience with a variety of cloning techniques, including restriction enzyme digestion, site-directed mutagenesis, ligation, HiFi, Gibson cloning, transformation, DNA purification.
- Experience with Sanger and NGS sequencing analysis and sequence alignment.
- Proficiency with molecular biology software, such as Geneious.
- Familiarity with ELN platforms ideally with Benchling.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
- An ideal candidate will have familiarity with gene editing and high throughput screening technologies
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $125,000.00USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, including potential adjustments for geographic location.
