An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a **Lead** **R&D Engineer Scientist Polymer/Membrane Specialist** within Membranes and Polymers Discovery Group located in Des Plaines, IL. You will be responsible for leading the effort for polymer and membrane discovery, fabrication, and scale up for the development of Honeywell UOPs breakthrough membrane technologies for gas separations, Green H2, fuel cell, energy storage, and other clean energy applications.

+ Lead the effort to establish new membrane fabrication and testing capabilities as needed.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Lead the design, synthesis, and scaling up of new polymers and materials for the development of Honeywell UOPs breakthrough membrane technologies for gas separations, Green H2, fuel cell, energy storage, and other clean energy applications.

+ Lead the design and development of new membranes using the new polymers and different membrane fabrication machines.

+ Carry out required experiments and consistently verify the link between the planned experiment and the project targets.

+ Evaluate, interpret, and present detailed and accurate data to team members. Summarize presentation notes and ascertain action plans.

+ Collaborate and communicate important project results to multi-functional program teams.

+ Ensure accurate alignment of goals of the project with business objectives and deliverables of the project that timely meet project targets to commercialization.

+ Participate in all departmental safety and HOS activities and conduct all work with a high degree of attention to safety.

+ Utilize six-sigma tools as necessary to implement project work.

**YOU MUST HAVE:**

+ Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

**WE VALUE:**

+ B.S. or B.E. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Membrane, Polymer, or Materials Science & Engineering.

+ 5+ years of industry experience preferred.

+ Experience with leading technical team for new membrane development and applications

+ Proficient with a well-rounded background in polymer chemistry and membrane science

+ Hands-on experience with polymer synthesis, characterization, and testing

+ Hands-on experience with design, installation, and modification of lab equipment

+ Hands-on experience with membrane fabrication and testing

+ Knowledge and experience in polymer and membrane scaling up and applications

+ Knowledge and experience in membrane-based separations, water electrolysis, fuel cell, and batteries

+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral and written.

+ Excellent problem-solving capabilities

+ Strong demonstration of teamwork and team-leading abilities
