What Impact Would You Have?
In this role, you would be essential to maintaining product quality and consistency. Your work would:
- Ensure that only materials meeting strict standards are used in production.
- Provide critical data to support real-time decision-making in metal casting operations.
- Help maintain customer trust by preparing accurate Certificates of Analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting engineering data collection and analysis.
How Would You Accomplish This?
- Promote Safety as the number one priority of all employees. Follow strict safety and housekeeping protocols to ensure a safe and efficient lab environment.
- Perform routine sample preparation and analysis of incoming and in-process materials including approval/rejection of material based on results of this testing.
- Perform chemical analysis by using various laboratory instruments, including gravimetric, ICP, and XRF.
- Perform metallurgical testing as required (i.e. micro-section preparation, hardness and mechanical property testing such as tensile and resistance) utilizing metallurgical equipment.
- Provide direct feedback to Metal Casting operations providing melt charge calculations for heat corrections to meet desired element target objectives.
- Maintain laboratory records and databases.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe work habits in accordance with Lean and 5S
- Prepare Certificate of Analysis for outgoing material.
- Support Process Engineering data collection as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Are We Looking For?
- Strong knowledge and experience in Chemistry and laboratory testing
- Experience in QC and inspection role
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new techniques and instrumentation
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Can work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Windows, Excel, Powerpoint) and proficient writing and communication skills.
- Experience operating laboratory equipment (ICP, XRF).
- Self-motivated to learn new techniques and instrumentation.
- Knowledge and experience with Lean 5S concepts.
