We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist to be in San Diego, CA.

The successful individual will provide bench support for discovery projects testing novel interventions/compounds in complex in vivo models of inflammation and in vitro systems, generating preclinical pharmacology, biomarker, and human translational data to support regulatory filings for new molecular entities, and collaborate with cutting edge academic labs and biotech companies. This individual will also participate in efforts to identify new targets for therapeutic intervention for inflammatory indications impacting skin, gut, joint, and lung.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, perform, and interpret in vitro experiments to support target validation, mechanism of action studies, and progression of drug discovery programs.

  • Design and conduct in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology experiments with a high degree of autonomy to understand drug exposure/activity relationship.

  • Develop, troubleshoot, and validate new in vivo models (acute or chronic) and lead/instruct other team members regarding processes, techniques, or tasks.

  • Employ in silico approaches to interrogate multi-omic datasets to identify key molecular features and cellular mechanisms and pathways contributing to disease pathogenesis in tissues of interest (e.g. skin, gut, joint, lung).

  • Document research in internal discovery reports, manuscripts for external publication, and other formats as required.

  • Present research at internal meetings and external scientific forums.

  • Work closely with colleagues from partner organizations to enable and/or support research activities.

  • Work with leadership to establish and maintain involvement in any external collaborations required to support research goals.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Immunology/Pharmacology/Cell Biology or related discipline with 1-3 years additional lab experience.
  • Experience with in vitro cell culture (e.g. adherent cells and immune cells) is required.
  • Experience with in vivo techniques (e.g.. rodent handling, IP/SC/PO dosing, tissue harvesting, inflammatory models) is required.
  • Experience with standard methods for assessment of gene and protein expression, including quantitative PCR, ELISA- and flow cytometry-based methods, is required.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools for analysis of differential gene expression in RNAseq datasets is preferred.
  • Strong oral, written, and fit-for-purpose communication skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with an ability to operate as part of a team in highly interdependent environment are required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $166,750

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
