. Position Summary: The mission of the Frailty Research Program is to advance care of older adults with frailty by generating high-quality novel evidence, training future clinicians and researchers, and changing healthcare systems and policy. We are seeking a research associate to join a core team conducting research innovative clinical interventions and leveraging large databases. A competitive candidate will be a self-motivated, independent individual with a bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience who has strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidates who are willing to commit at least 2 years are preferred. II. Core Competencies: Results Orientation: Focuses on delivering superior performance by setting and achieving stretch goals. III. Position Responsibilities: Prepare research protocols, IRB applications/correspondence, study instruments (e.g., surveys), study databases (e.g., REDCap), and data documentation Gather research data by conducting interviews with research participants and medical records review Perform data entry, management, and analysis Reviews medical literature and participate in scientific writing Contributes to project process within his/her scientific discipline. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement. Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature. Participates in scientific conferences and makes contributions to scientific journals. May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions. Uses professional concepts in accordance with organization objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways. Exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant research project matters by evaluating and comparing possible courses of action and making a decision or recommendation after considering the various possibilities. The above covers the most significant responsibilities of the position. It does not, however, exclude other duties, which would be in conformity with the level of the position. Completes special projects as assigned. IV Qualifications B.S. degree in a scientific discipline, 5 - 8 years of related experience or M.A./ M.S. degree in a scientific discipline, 2 - 5 years of related experience Must have basic computer skills i.e. Be able to effectively use a Windows platform 98 or higher, an Internet search program, an e-mail program and MS Word Must be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual. Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor. Superb organizational skills. Must have solid analytical skills. Must be creative and proactive yet disciplined, discriminating and able to streamline work volume in order to maintain bottom line efforts in midst of multi-tasking and daily re-prioritizing. Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle even difficult situations. Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
