Job Overview

Under general supervision, this position will interface daily with the Program Manager for DFW Airport's Water Resource team and provide innovative support in improving overall environmental performance in aspects related to water conservation, wastewater treatment, and dam safety. The candidate is required to demonstrate a specific understanding of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES), especially regulatory requirements pertinent to pretreatment programs.

What you will be doing:

Administer assigned environmental compliance program(s); analyzes federal, state, and local environmental regulations that impact airport property, planning and/or operations and develops options for compliance with impacted work and/or operational areas; and make recommendations.

Ensure effective execution of DFW's Pretreatment, Water Rights, Dam Safety, Reclaimed Water programs, and other water conservation programs.

Perform field investigations, inspections and remediation having impact on assigned airport environmental program(s) and properties; performs testing and sampling of soil, water, building materials and/or air in accordance with applicable regulatory criteria; analyzes and interprets data.

Collection of samples involves carrying equipment, in all weather conditions, to and from collection sites which may include remote or undeveloped areas.

Operate various in-situ and field water monitoring equipment to support the airport's stormwater, watershed, and TMDL related programs.

Verify and validate field sampling and analytical data; maintain environmental sampling and monitoring equipment.

Conduct routine audits and environmental compliance inspections of Board and tenant facilities related to environmental compliance and performance.

Maintains an understanding of client processes and assists clients in the continuous improvement of processes with environmental regulatory requirements.

Evaluates and develops comments on proposed state and federal laws and regulations.

Responds to environmental emergencies; coordinates response actions pertaining to area of assignment in coordination with state and federal agencies.

Ensures environmental aspects and impacts within the span of control of your position are identified and timely communicate applicable personnel and operational changes to Environmental Affairs.

What you need:

Bachelor's degree in physical or life sciences, environmental science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.

Two (2) years of professional experience in environmental operations, environmental analysis, or environmental program administration.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted to the above.

Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

Special requirements:

Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. Al. and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.

This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport's Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug screening test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

This is a designated essential employee position as defined in the Categories and Classifications of Employees Policy of the Airport Administrative Policy and Procedure. This is defined as an employee whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

Department may designate specific area(s) of environmental experience.

Licenses and certifications required by state and federal agencies for the performance of these job duties must be obtained within the time specified by department. Failure to do so may result in termination of employment.

Fulfill all training requirements and activities in accordance with Title 14 CFR Part 139 and Administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area
