Under broad supervision, conducts analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their chemical and physical properties and to investigate their applications. May develop and apply new analytical approaches. May perform special long-term projects of a confidential nature and special analyses on non-routine samples. Provides consultation, training, and trouble-shooting for instrument, software, and engineering problems as required. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience. The Graver Technologies Adsorbents group is searching for a highly motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. A good fit for this position would have experience working in a chemistry lab focused on quality control testing and/or customer applications support and research and development. The ideal candidate would have experience in managing multiple projects and providing summary reports/presentations. Our small team depends on excellent communication and teamwork skills. An ideal applicant would also have excellent organization and time management skills. Above all, the candidate should have a desire to learn and grow within Adsorbents team. Job Purpose: Provide support to production via quality control testing of finished goods, manages and helps execute customer application and research and development projects and provides assistance as needed to support the larger organizational initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Conduct quality control testing in support of production and shipping of finished goods. Evaluate and analyze raw materials to qualify for production and manage database of results. Design, execute, and manage test plans to support internal quality objectives, customer requests and applications support. Assist with and support lean daily management data collection and analysis for areas of quality improvement. Assist in performing testing on analytical equipment as needed--Surface Area, Particle Size Distribution, pH, among others. Generate detailed laboratory reports summarizing results for customer projects, and research & development efforts. Engage in work in support of ISO 9001 compliance and continued certification. Conducting literature research in support of R D as needed. Interacting with business and sales team to diagnose customer needs and concerns. Assist in general laboratory tasks (inventory, equipment maintenance, operate within 5S ) Perform other related technical and administration work as needed. Key Areas of Growth: Leading stage gate projects from concept to delivery of new product(s) Designing equipment and tests to support sales team as necessary Presentations both internally and externally Education: A bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering or other related sciences with 0-5 years of experience working in a laboratory environment (preferred). A high school diploma with 10-15 years of experience working in a laboratory environment. Technical and Personal Skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Including Excel and PowerPoint. Other database-like programs. Experience with ERP software a plus. Physical ability to do lifting and other work as required. Ability to be part of a small cohesive team. Knowledge of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures required. Laboratory experience is required. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with personnel at multiple levels. Self-driven, results oriented.
