CA Pay Range (Annual):

$91,000.00 - $169,000.00

Join Nokia Network Infrastructure (NI) California as PIC (Photonic Integrated Circuit) Test Development Engineer, implementing and improving SW and HW solutions for large throughput, R&D and production level testing of complex photonic integrated circuits (PICs)! Work in a team of experienced PIC test engineers and PIC developers to grow and adapt PIC Test to the demands of the rapidly expanding coherent and linear-drive pluggable module market.

Brief Description

Individual contributor engineering position responsible for complex device / subassembly level characterization on current and next generation photonic integrated circuits (PIC).

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement characterization methodologies for photonic integrated circuit devices using fundamental and advanced measurement techniques.
  • Own schedules and milestones for test development projects and drive projects to conclusion.
  • Implement solutions to adapt existing test hardware and software to rapid changes in device design and measurement requirements.
  • Provide development-phase experimental device data which can guide design improvements and provide better understanding of device behavior.
  • Analyze wafer test data from production tests and drive improvements in test capability, test capacity, and tool reliability.

Education / Experience

MS or BS with 2+ years of experience, major in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or Applied Physics

Knowledge / Skills /Abilities

  • Hands-on experience with advanced characterization techniques for electronic devices. Ability to develop a fundamental understanding of device behavior through experimental characterization.
  • Strong foundation in semiconductor optoelectronics at the device level, including semiconductor lasers, optical amplifiers, and attenuators.
  • Basic understanding of passive optical fundamentals, including waveguide modes, polarization, coherence, and interference.
  • Strong software development skills for test automation and data analysis. Experience with data base tools like JMP, SQL is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully execute experiments in both an R&D and Manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work within a team environment is essential; results and schedules must be clearly and concisely communicated to other groups.

This position requires direct or indirect access to certain confidential information, hardware, software, technology, or technical information (referred to here as Export-Controlled Information) controlled under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All personnel in this position must be eligible to or be able to obtain authorization from the appropriate agency to access applicable Export-Controlled Information. The U.S. Department of Commerce currently requires a foreign person with a most recent citizenship or permanent residency of Sudan, Ukraine, or a country currently designated in Country Group D:1, E:1 or E:2 (Supplement No. 1 to Part 740, Title 15) to have an export control license to access our Export-Controlled Information, unless they meet certain exemptions provided under U.S. export control laws and regulations. The list of applicable countries in Country Group D:1, E:1 or E:2 may be updated by the U.S. government from time to time. The current processing time for an export control license is approximately 4 to 6 months.
