Position Description : Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Materials Engineer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Compile datasets from literature for basic physical and mechanical properties, complex mechanical phenomena (e.g., creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture), irradiation performance, corrosion, and tribology.
- Perform Qualification of Existing Data per ASME NQA-1-2015
- Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models as input to computer codes and methods to demonstrate the performance of reactor systems, structures, and components.
- Plan, execute, and oversee test programs designed to address data gaps
- Perform quantitative and statistical analysis on test data and generate technical reports to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualifications
- Update and maintain a Python-based material database as well as associated design handbooks for the project.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree, or a Masters degree. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired.
- A solid understanding of metallurgy, including fabrication and thermomechanical processing of ferrous (e.g., ferritic-martensitic steels) and nonferrous (e.g., nickel-base) alloys, is required.
- A general understanding of the design of a nuclear reactor and subsequent impacts on materials would be considered a pl.us
- Ability to work with minimal direction to solve challenging problems
- The actual position starting level and title will be determined based on the assessment of qualifications
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and have a desire to foster teamwork
Job Details:
- Job Type: Contract
- Location: Bellevue, WA.
- Pay Rate: $63-80 an hour.
- Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or a protected person.
