Senior Application Development Engineer (ServiceNow)

**Position Purpose:**

The senior application development engineer will be responsible for working daily to remediate incidents requiring complex technical analysis and/or code development. They will work with Systems Administrators and Business Analysts to triage, prioritize, and correct all incidents and defects reported. Additionally, they will assist in code review completion, knowledge article creation, and bi-annual upgrade activities.

+ **Core Platform Functionality:** Expert-level understanding of ServiceNow architecture, data model (tables, fields, relationships), and how different modules interact

+ **Module Expertise:** In-depth experience with multiple ServiceNow modules, commonly including:

+ **ITSM (IT Service Management):** Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Service Catalog, Knowledge Management

+ **ITOM (IT Operations Management):** Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Orchestration, Cloud Management

+ **SPM (Service Portfolio Management)**

+ **ITBM (IT Business Management):** Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Agile Development, Financial Management

+ **GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance)**

+ **ITAM (Hardware and Software Asset Management)**

+ **HealthScan Remediation**

+ Develops or prototypes software modules at various levels of complexity, including but not limited to: service interfaces, process flows, service messages, SOA components, business logic, UI/UX, or data access logic

+ Designs, develops, tests, and deploys software solutions and process flows complying with standards, guidelines, and best practices

+ Identifies, assesses, and formulates architectural impacts and solutions from business requirements

+ Collaborates to ensure application designs utilize appropriate patterns and standards

+ Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints, including the ability to estimate work needed

+ Assesses functional and nonfunctional requirements and creates designs to meet both business and technical needs

+ Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents and works with the business to update, as needed

+ Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow, develops and evaluates options, and implements solutions

+ Utilizes and contribute to the development of application coding techniques and standards

+ Collaborates with Application Solution Architects, IS Business Analysts and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality

+ Participates in tier 3 application support activities including incident management and the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches

+ Performs other duties as assigned

**Education/Experience:**

A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science) and Requires 4 6 years of related experience.

Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.

**Technical Skills:**

+ **JavaScript (Essential):** Mastery of JavaScript, as it's the primary scripting language across the platform. This includes server-side (GlideSystem) and client-side scripting

+ **Glide API:** In-depth knowledge and practical application of the GlideRecord, GlideSystem, and other Glide APIs for interacting with the database and platform features

+ **Web Technologies:** Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, XML, JSON for UI development and data exchange

+ **REST/SOAP APIs:** Experience developing Web Services and constructing inbound and outbound REST and SOAP web services and their authentication methods for robust integrations

+ **ServiceNow Standards:** Familiarity with coding best practices and supported development standards

+ UI Policies, UI Actions, Client Scripts, Business Rules, Script Includes

+ Access Control Lists (ACLs) for robust security

+ Workflows, Flow Designer, and Process Automation

+ Service Portal development (Widgets, Themes, Pages, AngularJS)

+ Reports and Dashboards, Performance Analytics

+ Custom Scoped Applications

+ Notifications and Events

+ **Configuration and Customization:** Extensive experience in configuring and customizing various ServiceNow components

+ **Integration Hub:** Proficient in using Integration Hub for orchestrating complex integrations

+ **Data Transformation:** Skills in transforming data between ServiceNow and external systems

**License/Certification:**

+ ServiceNow Certified Developer (CAD) and ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) preferred

Pay Range: $85,300.00 - $158,100.00 per year

Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law, including full-time or part-time status.
