The Opportunity:

A Senior Scientist in Reagent Development is responsible for contributing to the development of new or improved reagents, which are substances used in laboratory experiments or diagnostic assays. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and collaboration with other scientists and engineers to ensure the quality and performance of the reagents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reagent Characterization and Development: Conducting experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance of reagents, including assessing their stability, formulation, and manufacturing tolerances.

  • Quality Control Assay Development: Designing, developing, and validating assays to assess the quality of both incoming and manufactured reagents.

  • Process Development and Optimization: Contributing to the establishment of manufacturing processes for reagents and transferring these processes to operations.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing experimental data, forming conclusions and suggesting future experiments, generating reports, and presenting findings to project teams.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving issues related to reagent performance, assay development, or manufacturing processes.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with other scientists, engineers, and operations personnel to ensure the successful development and implementation of new reagents.

  • Maintaining GxP Laboratory Standards: Adhering to good laboratory practices, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the proper maintenance of laboratory equipment, laboratory spaces, and inventory.

  • Staying Current: Keeping up-to-date with scientific literature and technological advancements in the field of reagent development.

Who you are:

  • A Bachelor's (5+ years) or Master's degree (3+ years) or Ph.D ( 2 years) in a relevant scientific field such as biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline.

  • Several years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on reagent development or assay development.

  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemistry. NGS experience is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and troubleshoot experimental issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and present findings.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $93,300 - $173,300.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
