Summary
A Laboratory Technician I will execute all aspects of daily business operations in either theDNA testing or Sample Preparation laboratory. An ideal candidate will work effectively with all team members to ensure that our customers receive on-time and accurate delivery of test results and services in alignment with our quality system requirements.
Responsibilities

Understanding of testing requirements and concepts
Prioritize and prepare/process all customer samples for analytical testing according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Reagent preparation
Identify and assist in resolving anomalous events
Maintain accurate records for traceability through all department procedures
Responsible for calibration and verification of specific equipment and their accompanying records
All other duties as assigned
DNA Testing Specific Responsibilities
- Knowledge in DNA extraction, UV/Vis Spectroscopy, qPCR, ELISA, GLP
Sample Preparation Specific Responsibilities
- Responsiblefor grains, food, animal feed, supplements, and other food/feed matrices
Competencies - Following 30 Day Shadow Training
- Successfully complete the 12-day DNA prep, extraction, and instrumentation training
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientific field
1-2+ years of Laboratory experience

Proficiency with operation of desktop computers
MS Excel, Outlook
Database experience preferred
Language Skills
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak effectively to employees in their work group or environment
Ability to write reports and correspondence
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to acquire and analyze results from various laboratory instruments and prepare analytical reports
Reasoning Ability
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is required to sit with repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at a desktop or mobile keyboard.
Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. It requires the ability to operate a computer and phone.
Employees must have reliable transportation.
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is occasionally exposed to hazardous material, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Work is performed primarily indoors in an office and/or laboratory setting. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including lab coat and gloves. The employee will operate equipment properly as described in the owner's manual and according to SOP specifications.
Position Type and Expected Working Hours
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
