*THIS POSITION IS PROMOTIONAL, OPEN TO DEQ EMPLOYEES ONLY* Minimum Qualifications A bachelors degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus three years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR A masters degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus two years of the experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR A doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus one year of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing. Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
The Waste Permits Section is responsible for a number of required duties & activities involving the Hazardous Waste Program. The Environmental Scientist Supervisor in this section plays an integral role in the Section accomplishing its goals and objectives as it relates to the responsibilities of the Hazardous Waste Program. Overseeing and supervising the Environmental Scientist staff to ensure their work is distributed and accomplished effectively and that staff is trained appropriately, as well as working with mid and upper-level management and outside entities (such as the regulated community, general public and other state and federal agencies) are a few items this position entails.
Position-Specific Details:This position is in the Waste Permits Division within the Office of Environmental Services. This position is domiciled at Headquarters in East Baton Rouge Parish.
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) as follows:
Environmental Scientist Supervisor - $31.38 per hour or $2,510.20 biweekly
