Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus four years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR
A master's degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus three years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR
A doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus two years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The Environmental Scientist Manager (ESM) in the Industrial Permitting Group is responsible for the management and supervision of all statewide permitting activities in regulating the environmental effects of industrial, commercial and governmental activities of permitted facilities in functional unit(s) within the Water Permits Division. This position requires a high degree of knowledge of environmental regulations and management skills in order to supervise and manage these advanced levels of permitting in the issuance of water permits. The incumbent must have strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules, regulations, policies, quality management plans, state and federal laws and best professional judgment. Direct supervision is received from the administrator of the Water Permits Division. Direct supervision is exercised over Environmental Scientist Supervisors and Environmental Scientists - Staff.
Position-Specific Details:
This position is in the Water Permits Division within the Office of Environmental Services. This position is domiciled at Headquarters in East Baton Rouge Parish.
There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) for this position, as follows:
Accountant 4: $38.45 per hour or $3,075.60 Biweekly
