This position is ECB status requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.

Job Summary: Collects and prepares specimens for testing, conducts routine laboratory tests, and assists technologists as directed.

Minimum Education: College science prerequisite courses for medical technology degree required and enrollment in the SFHS accredited School of Medical Technology.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Adequate keyboarding skills to use the computer efficiently.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Collects, receives, organizes, and prepares specimens for laboratory testing. Performs routine laboratory testing with supervision. Performs and records all quality control procedures required for testing being performed. Reports accurate test results. Conducts oneself in a professional manner with regard to communication and cooperation.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
