The Amazon Devices & Services organization is building a dedicated team to build the next generation of AI-powered developer tools that will accelerate innovation across Alexa, Fire TV, Ring, Echo, and more.

As a key member of our AI Tooling team, you will have a front-line view into how all Amazon devices are engineered. Youll work closely with talented engineers, applied scientists, and product leaders across the company to design, build, and scale common AI tools that make our teams more efficient and effective. AI tools are progressing every day and are being tuned by teams across amazon. Your work will directly impact Amazons ability to deliver more products and features to customers, faster than ever before.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of highly scalable, enterprise-grade AI-powered developer tools that seamlessly integrate into existing engineering workflows, driving improved speed, confidence, and clarity for our teams.
- Leverage AI to automate and enhance critical stages of the development lifecycle, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and debugging, to boost productivity and quality.
- Create robust frameworks and solutions that enable the seamless integration of Generative AI technologies into our existing development environments.
- Enhance internal models with techniques like fine-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation to create highly customized AI models that leverage internal code, data and infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams across the D&S organization to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven automation and efficiency improvements across the software development lifecycle.
- Develop and track robust metrics to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of AI tools, using data-driven insights to guide strategic investments in the most impactful solutions.
- Define and promote best practices for the safe, responsible, and observable use of AI in software development, collaborating closely with security and compliance teams to ensure compliance and trust.

A day in the life
Your day will be dynamic and impactful, involving collaborative problem-solving with cross-functional teams. You'll dive deep into designing intelligent tools that streamline complex development processes, working closely with engineers to understand their challenges and create elegant, scalable solutions. You may work with our retail team or AWS to understand what AI tooling they are using, and then own customizing the tool for the devices org. Some days you will be a student, learning about the newest AI tool or technique. Some days you will be a teacher, helping partner teams learn to use the new tools. Every day, you get to build AI tools that accelerate Amazon devices development teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
