The Protein Purification Research Associate will conduct laboratory activities related to protein purification and characterization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working on antibody purification and dialysis in a research, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical company setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Purify and characterize antibodies from complex mixtures using various techniques, including protein A/G, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), ion exchange, using FPLC chromatography methods.
Perform large-scale antibody buffer exchange and concentration.
Responsible for the biochemical characterization of various molecular properties using methods such as SDS-PAGE, isoelectric focusing, and endotoxin quantification/removal.
Document experiments thoroughly, troubleshoot processes, and contribute to the optimization and development of purification protocols.
Perform minor clerical tasks relating to purification, including records management, documentation review, and preparation of shipping documentation.
Utilize software tools such as spreadsheets, databases, and data visualization programs for data analysis and presentation.
May participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives (Plan, Do, Check, Act) and execute applicable study protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of protein purification experience in a research and development or biomanufacturing environment, M.S. is preferred.
Extensive hands-on experience with protein separation techniques, including protein A/G, SEC, ion exchange, and experience with protein precipitation techniques, is a plus.
Proficiency with AKTA chromatography systems is a must.
Experience working with biological samples such as cell culture supernatants and ascites.
Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Willingness to work on weekends and overtime as needed.
*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the persons relevant experience and/or education level.
