Insight Global is seeking a Powder Chemist for one of our largest clients to sit out of their Minneapolis, MN, facility. The Powder Chemist will work extensively in the Building Products, Energy, and General Finishing market segments, supporting Powder coating technologies. This will be hands-on role, responsible for formulating powder coatings and products for outdoor systems and commercial applications. Candidates should have experience with color matching as they will be responsible for determining the difference between colors in order to correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers. This role requires close collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and end customers to advance technologies and meet product performance and warranty expectations. The Chemist will be customer-facing and will be providing mentorship to junior Chemists on the team. Candidates should be willing to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.

7+ years of experience in formulating powder coatings and reactive polymer systems.

oShould have experience formulating industrial coatings for indoor and outdoor systems.

Experience with color matching and instrumentation.

Expertise regarding adhesion and testing of coatings.

Excellent communication skills ability to present to and work with customers frequently.

Previous experience mentoring Chemists to support team project goals.

Must be able to travel up to 30% - includes international travel. Experience with industry certifications relevant to group market segments: AAMA 2603/2604/2605, BHMA, UL 1332, UL 746A/746B, IEEE, ISO 12944, NSF 51/61 null
