Job Summary

The Kentucky Tobacco Research & Development Center (KTRDC), housed within the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, is seeking a dedicated Scientist I to join our dynamic team. This position plays a vital role in supporting KTRDC's mission of utilizing plant-based technologies to advance and strengthen Kentucky agriculture.

Position Overview:

As a Scientist I, you will contribute to groundbreaking research that directly addresses critical issues facing Kentucky farmers. Key areas of focus include:

  • Gene regulation of plant specialized metabolite biosynthesis
  • Disease resistance and yield improvement in key crops
  • Collaborative coordination of research and management activities with the KTRDC director

This role is central to the success of ongoing and future research initiatives at the Center.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Performing genomic, transcriptomic analyses of tobacco genome. Construction of gene expression vectors, gene cloning, characterization of genes regulating biosynthesis of plant alkaloids and related compounds.
