Amazon Legal has an excellent opportunity for a systems development engineer who is looking to embrace high level of ownership in a growing team that is very customer focused. In this role you will spearhead all aspects of our Windows infrastructure, third party applications, SharePoint servers and solution architecture; ensuring we have a secure, extensible, and highly available platform enabling effective operation for the Legal department internally as well as with other business partners in Amazon.
As a key member of our team, you will be our primary administrator and developer for various third-party products and in-house built applications. As a systems development engineer you will own the underlying infrastructure, including databases, file servers, EC2 instances, and operating systems ensuring that backups, maintenance, and performance monitoring are operating properly.

Key job responsibilities
Lead major projects in Legal Systems Tools and Infrastructure with end-to-end ownership
Assist with system and software development initiatives, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation
Implement, upgrade, and enhance third-party applications, including SharePoint and other legal systems
Participate in and lead architecture workshops, collaborating with legal IT and partners
Build, support, configure, and develop SharePoint environments
Troubleshoot complex operational issues in Windows server environments interacting with multiple legal applications
Drive operational excellence by building and automating systems and tools for internal use
Develop and maintain user and technical documentation, guidelines, and instructions
Mentor junior engineers on systems engineering, development, and architecture best practices
Work closely with internal customers to address problems and meet demands
Demonstrate versatility by working with a wide range of technologies
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of advanced hands on experience with SharePoint Administration, SharePoint Framework (Modern & Classic sites), SharePoint Hybrid (SPO & OnPrem), CSOM (.NET, REST, JavaScript), SharePoint Apps, Claims aware .NET Applications, Content Management, Collaboration, Workflows, Server-Side Customizations, and M365 migration.
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C#, Java, PowerShell, Python including object-oriented design.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Proven experience working with multiple third party applications and development and/or customization of them.
- Ability to interact with internal and external teams to diagnose and solve technical problems.
- Experience running and maintaining 24x7 production environments.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
