Position Summary

The DuPont Electronics Business is a world leader in the electronic and industrial materials markets and consists of multiple highly profitable, high growth businesses servicing the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries. We are seeking a highly motivated Automation System Development Engineer with a strong background in robotics to lead the design, integration, and optimization of automated systems for laboratory workflows and discrete part manufacturing operations. This role is critical to advancing our R&D and production capabilities through smart automation, precision robotics, and data-driven process control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robotic automation systems for laboratory sample handling, testing, and discrete part assembly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automation strategies that improve throughput, accuracy, and safety.
  • Program and integrate industrial robots (e.g., ABB, Epson, Kuka) with PLCs, vision systems, and lab instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain control system architectures, including HMI/SCADA interfaces and recipe-driven automation.
  • Lead proof-of-concept and pilot projects for new automation technologies in R&D and small-scale production environments.
  • Support data acquisition and analytics for process optimization and predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all automation deployments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in robotics and automation system engineering is preferred
  • Proficiency in robotic programming, PLC integration, and control systems.
  • Experience with vision systems, safety systems, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
