Clean Harbors is looking to hire a self-motivated Laboratory Technologist to join our team located in Corunna, Ontario. Their primary responsibility will be Thermal desorber unit batch creation, and to perform specific analytical methods in support of the landfill, incinerator and desorber operations, for a diverse range of sample matrices. These samples will encompass yard derived work, compliance and sales.

- Creating Thermal desorber batches and tracking batch paperwork
- Follow methods approved by the Lambton laboratory and use critical thinking skills in interpreting results and recommending disposal options.
- Perform his/her job in a manner consistent with the company standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment by calibration inspection and equipment tests to ensure reliability and accurate results.
- Perform minor repairs/maintenance on instrumentation.
- Sample and test materials identified as part of the Facilities Certificates of Approval.
- Log and manage all samples entering the laboratory.
- Carries out communications with other plant staff when necessary e.g.: Dispatch, Security, Transportation, Maintenance, Customer Service, Laboratory, Landfill in a professional manner.
- Provides training to new employees.
- Aids in method updates.
- Complies with company standards and assists in maintaining, with respect to safety, laboratory operations, environmental control, security and housekeeping.
- Provide rapid and accurate records, and maintain records of analysis
- Provide support to operations group
- Chemical Technology Diploma, or equivalent
- Good computer skills and knowledge in MS Office, WIN
- Proficiency with bomb calorimetry, ion chromatography, titrimetric and gravimetric methods, basic solution chemistry, as well as other general laboratory hardware
- Experience using lab equipment and working in a laboratory environment
