Division of Infectious Diseases is searching for a Laboratory Technician who is able to perform a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees animal protocols. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Key Job Duties Include\:
• Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments, including determining experimental protocols and preparing laboratory specimens and cultures.
• Analyzes experimental data and interprets results; compiles results; writes reports and summaries of findings.
• Maintains and oversees animal inventory and ordering. Maintains lab and chemical inventory.
• Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books.
• Prepares data, graphs, tables, and charts to document experimental results for publication.
• Writes manuscripts and grant proposals; performs literature searches; summarizes findings for reports and written documentations. • Consults with other researchers and staff regarding laboratory procedures and experiments.
• Develops recommendations and problem resolutions to improve research efforts.
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments.
Able to stand for long periods of time and travel between labs as needed.
