Chemical Operator Job Description We are seeking a diligent and skilled Chemical Operator to join our team, responsible for processing, purifying, and chemically fabricating products through a sequence of batch operations. The role requires handling various equipment and chemicals to ensure accurate inventory and product quality, while adhering to safety and operational standards. Responsibilities Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations. Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products. Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales, and flow meters. Weigh, measure, and check raw materials and finished products to ensure batches contain proper ingredients and quantities, maintaining accurate inventory. Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Locate materials in the warehouse and transport them to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed. Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis. Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections. Attend required Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training, including Hazardous Waste Management, emergency response, and Hazard Communication, demonstrating an acceptable level of understanding of topics. Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers. Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, OHSA standards. Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in work area. Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues, actively participating in shift meetings for work planning and continuous improvement. Adhere to all corporate, plant, and safety policies/procedures. Wear personal protective equipment as applicable. Complete all assigned training including corporate, HSE, and Quality-specific training. Assist and train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of applicable experience; chemical manufacturing is highly preferred. Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products. Experience working in a clean-room environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively and concisely. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable. Why Work Here?
