Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated. Laboratory Technician with a background in food chemistry to join a dynamic team in Montreal. This temporary position supports quality control operations in a food production environment. Reporting to the Quality & Food Safety Specialist, the technician will perform chemical and physical analyses on flour and wheat, maintain quality records, and support internal and external communication related to product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct chemical and physical testing on flour and wheat samples.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support quality assurance programs.
• Collaborate with millers and plant operators to ensure product standards.
• Communicate quality-related findings internally and externally when required.
• Utilize software tools for data entry, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Adhere strictly to internal protocols and external regulatory requirements.
• Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards.

Qualifications:

• College diploma in food chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum 4 months of experience in a quality control laboratory.
• Familiarity with AACC methods, Brabender, and NIR devices is an asset.
• Experience with HACCP, food safety protocols, and HPLC is considered a plus.
• Previous work in a milling facility is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in French (spoken and written); English is an asset.
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Schedule:

• Rotating shifts: 7am3pm, 3pm11pm, and 11pm7am.
• Two-week rotation between day and night shifts.
• Alternating weekly schedule:
  • Week A: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday (48 hours)
  • Week B: Monday, Thursday, Friday (36 hours)
• Initial training: 40 hours on day shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.82 - $32.82/hr.
