About this role:

The [CATEGORY] Application Research & Deployment Principal Scientist serves as a technical specialist in developing ingredient applications tailored to customer needs. This role drives advanced research efforts to expand understanding of ingredient functionality and leads application development projects within the team, ensuring high-impact solutions that meet customer and market demand.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct advanced research into ingredient interactions and functionalities, applying findings to the development of tailored applications.
  • Lead the design and execution of experiments to refine ingredient formulations and improve performance in specific applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical Service and other Innovation & R&D teams to develop innovative solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Oversee laboratory trials and analyze data to optimize formulations and ensure high-quality results.
  • Develop technical documentation and insights to support internal teams and external customer communication.
  • Mentor and coach junior scientists, fostering technical excellence and compliance standards within the team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending advancements for applications research to management.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; may hold a professional qualification at this level.
  • Possesses specialist knowledge in R&D within the food and beverage industry as well as processes and best practices related to applications development. Strong understanding of the policies, objectives, operations and related activities within a Applications Research & Deployment Sub-Function or part of a Sub-Region.
  • Strong communication skills to persuade and influence stakeholders. The role needs to adapt styles, interpret and explain information to different audiences inside and outside the organization who are not familiar with the subject matter.
  • Resolve applications-related issues that are complex or unusual requiring original thought, research, new approaches and analytical techniques.
  • Provide advice and guidance through technical knowledge, research and analysis within own discipline, which impacts the performance of the team.
  • Responsible for achieving personal targets, which can impact the overall success of the Applications Research & Deployment Sub-Function / part of a Sub-Region and shape the development of the discipline.
  • May oversee project delivery, including managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful completion.

Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.

When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.

The pay range for this position is: $89,000 - $130,000.
