The Core Infrastructure Services team plays a key role in supporting Nordstroms technical foundation. Our team oversees several critical areas, including DNS and DHCP services, Authentication (AAA, ClearPass, etc.), Digital Certificate Services, and Infrastructure Automation. Infrastructure Automation, in particular, is central to our efforts to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and enhance visibility and observability across our systems.

As a System Development Engineer 1 on the Core Infrastructure Services team, you will be developing software solutions that optimize infrastructure deployments, ensuring secure connectivity, and efficient data flow. We are transforming how traditional infrastructure management has been handled by building modernized platforms, simplifying processes for internal teams, and advancing our monitoring and security systems through innovative tech stacks and tools.

A day in the life

+ Create frameworks to solve multiple business problems.

+ Diagnose and remedy performance, operational, or security issues.

+ Facilitate cross-functional troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

+ Surface potential design or delivery conflicts in the current product cycle and make recommendations on the best options.

+ Demonstrate knowledge in industry standards for secure development practices.

+ Contribute to community projects and engineering standards.

You own this if you have

+ 0-1 year of professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack.

+ Bachelor's or masters degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent experience required.

+ Experience with coding languages like Python, JavaScript, Bash, etc.

+ Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

+ Proficiency with Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

+ Experience with RESTful architecture and microservices.

+ Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, and performance testing.

+ Experience with cloud technologies like AWS and/or GCP.

+ Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

+ Experience with messaging technologies and patterns (Kafka/SQS).

+ Familiarity with CI/CD, Terraform, and testing tools.

+ Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals and AI integration.

+ Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Load).

+ Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics (New Relic, Splunk).

+ Familiarity with infrastructure technologies (Networking, DNS, etc.).

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$104,500.00 - $162,500.00 Annual

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
