Profoundly Improve People's lives by Revolutionizing the Delivery of RNA Therapeutics

At Avidity Biosciences, we are passionate about the impact of every employee in realizing our vision of improving people's lives by delivering a new class of RNA therapeutics. Avidity is revolutionizing the field of RNA with its proprietary AOCs, which are designed to combine the specificity of monoclonal antibodies with the precision of oligonucleotide therapies to address targets and diseases previously unreachable with existing RNA therapies. If you are a committed, solution-oriented thinker, join us in making a difference and become part of our growing culture that is integrated, collaborative, agile, and focused on the needs of patients.

Avidity Biosciences, Inc.'s mission is to profoundly improve people's lives by delivering a new class of RNA therapeutics - Antibody Oligonucleotide Conjugates (AOCs). Utilizing its proprietary AOC platform, Avidity demonstrated the first-ever successful targeted delivery of RNA into muscle and is leading the field with clinical development programs for three rare muscle diseases: myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1), Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Avidity is broadening the reach of AOCs with its advancing and expanding pipeline, including programs in cardiology and immunology through internal discovery efforts and key partnerships. Avidity is headquartered in San Diego, CA. For more information about our AOC platform, clinical development pipeline, and people, please visit aviditybiosciences and engage with us on LinkedIn and X.

The Opportunity

Avidity is seeking a driven and collaborative Scientist to join our Precision Cardiology team in San Diego. In this role, you will help advance our proprietary AOC platform by supporting the discovery and development of therapeutics targeting genetically driven cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases.

You will lead and contribute to internal and external research projects, applying a broad range of cellular and biochemical techniques across in vitro and in vivo models. This is a hands-on laboratory role with the opportunity to influence new target proposals, expand platform capabilities, and directly impact programs from discovery through early development.

What You Will Contribute

Lead and support exploratory biology efforts for novel cardiac targets.

Develop and optimize in vitro and in vivo models of cardiomyopathies and heart failure.

Apply and adapt molecular and cellular techniques to support drug discovery in the cardiac space.

Stay current with scientific literature and introduce innovative methodologies.

Contribute to cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and presentations.

What We Seek

PhD in relevant biological science with at least 2 years of combined industry and/or post-doctoral experience in cardiac research or related field.

Strong publication record, including first-author contributions in high-impact journals focused on cardiac biology.

Experience with in vitro and/or in vivo cardiac model systems.

Proficiency in medium- to high-throughput assay formats and standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, cell culture).

Hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics, scRNA-seq, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and proteomics is a plus.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey scientific findings to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

What We Will Provide To You

The base salary range for this role is $118,750 - $131,250. The final compensation will be commensurate with relevant experience, skillset, internal equity, and market factors.

Avidity offers competitive compensation and benefits, including the opportunity for annual and spot bonuses, stock options, RSUs, and a 401(k) with an employer match. In addition, the comprehensive wellness program includes medical, dental, vision, and LTD coverage and four weeks of time off.

A commitment to learning and development, including various internal programs developed by and for Avidity employees, opportunities for job-specific training offered by industry, and an education reimbursement program.
