The Wang lab concentrates on 1) understanding mechanisms of chronic pain and drug addiction, and 2) developing new pharmacological treatments for these conditions. We apply the power of molecular pharmacology, neurobiology, epigenetics, pharmacogenetics, and others in our studies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design and carry out experiments.
  • Report findings, in oral and written forms, and draft manuscripts.
  • Keep accurate record of the experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and reports.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings, Journal Clubs and common seminars within the Department.
  • Guide students within the lab.
  • Present the results at scientific meetings.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline (e.g., neuroscience, pharmacology, biochemistry, biological psychology, etc.).
    • Ability to independently design and analyze research projects, with excellent manuscript writing and communication skills.


    Preferred Qualifications
    Research experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered an advantage, but not required:
    • Research experience in neuroscience.
    • Research experience in pain or addiction.
    • Experience working with rodents.
    • Experience with optogenetics, chemogenetics, or stereotaxic microinjection.
