The Position

A Postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate to join our Therapeutic Modalities group at Genentech, under the mentorship of Dr. Claudo Ciferri, VP of Protein Sciences, and in collaboration with the Bioconjugation and Delivery Lab led by Dr. Stephanie Monson. This group is responsible for the design and generation of new medicines that combine the engineering and analytical principles of multiple scientific disciplines. We are seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow to join our team and advance our mission by contributing to the discovery and evaluation of new bioconjugation chemistries that enable the generation of therapeutic modalities with novel mechanisms of action. This position offers hands-on experience in drug discovery, with access to state-of-the-art analytics and a robust cross-functional scientific community.

The Opportunity:

  • You will be part of the Genentech post-doctoral training program that provides an outstanding environment and the opportunity to pursue fundamental basic science questions in an environment focused on drug discovery and breakthrough discoveries.

  • As a member of Protein Sciences you will have access to cutting-edge research in emerging therapeutic design and discovery, structural biology, and molecular biology.

Who You Are:

  • Ph.D. with a proven track record of excellence in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or a similar field.

  • Must have advanced at least one key research project as evidenced by a first-author paper published or accepted in a leading peer-reviewed journal.

  • Independent scientist with outstanding communication skills, a strong passion and commitment to science who works well within a team.

  • Excited about developing and applying cutting-edge bioconjugation techniques to create the therapies of tomorrow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with protein or antibody bioconjugation and downstream analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry.

  • Experience with chemical biology or synthetic chemistry and reaction optimization.

  • A working knowledge of molecular biology and/or protein generation.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco California is $98,000 to $104,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
