The Opportunity :

The Postdoctoral Associate will work in the Department of Animal Science on research projects involved in genetic susceptibility to bovine respiratory disease, loci associated with embryonic and fetal loss in beef and dairy cattle and other projects depending on the interest of the successful candidate. Large data sets are already available for genome wide association analyses, gene set enrichment analyses, and analyses of long read whole genome sequences for these projects.

Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Analysis of epigenetic, whole-genome sequencing and genotypic data.

  2. Publication and presentation of research results.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), fixed term position. This position is overtime eligible.

Annual Salary: $60,000.00 - 70,000.00

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Animal Science with a focus on Genetics or Functional Genomics

  • Experience in genome wide association and gene set enrichment analysis

  • Experience in analysis of whole genome sequences

  • Experience in bioinformatics, and coding.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Python, R, and Linux/Unix systems.

  • Strong skills in computer scripting and pipeline development.

  • Experience in project management

  • Experience in network analyses.

  • Previous post-doctoral experience.
