Objectives of this Role:
- Conduct investigations with data products from the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope to study a variety of science questions based on observations of the Galilean satellites.
- Help our team complete tasks on several planetary mission and/or space telescope spectroscopy programs.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional meetings.
- Participate in NASA funded planetary research and analysis projects and/or observing programs; projects include Europa Clipper, HST, and JWST observations.
- Lead NASA funded planetary research and analysis projects and/or observing proposals.
- Opportunity to lead and/or assist in new planetary instrument and mission development proposals efforts.
Requirements:
- Requires a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, Planetary Geology, Planetary Science, Astrophysics, Space Science, or Space Instrumentation.
- 0 years: Recent PhD with Computer coding in Python and IDL knowledge.
- A background in scientific analysis and publication of Europa surface and atmosphere composition and related outer planet topics is highly desirable.
- Ability to process and interpret data from space-based observatories.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required
Special Requirements:
This is a 9 month limited term assignment.
