The Role

Entegris is currently seeking a Scientist I, Research Associate to join our Materials Solutions ICPS R&D team. This position will be based at our Aurora, Illinois (Greater Chicago Area) facility.

In this role, you will be working in Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) research and development team for new product development and interact with other business units and fellow research associates to provide support in various projects.

What Youll Do

  • Provide laboratory support and assist in the development and commercialization of new products, focusing on performing formulation experiments, various polymer characterizations, lab-based CMP tests, product reliability tests, data analysis, and basic maintenance of the laboratory. Competently execute the experiment plans set by scientists and engineers in the team. Able and willing to work in a laboratory environment at least 80% of the time.

  • Accurately analyze experimental data by applying appropriate statistical tools; propose conclusions based on experience.

  • With minimal guidance, summarize data into an impactful & readable format.

  • Within a focused area, in collaboration with a scientist propose, design, and complete the appropriate experiments including lab-scale new formulation trials, measurement method development or process development

  • Occasionally seeks new methods to improve data collection, analysis, and quality.

  • Contributes to lab safety and operational efficiency, including leading safety committee teams, and conducting calibrations and internal preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.

What We Seek

  • Minimum BA/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field required

  • 1-3 years of chemistry laboratory experience either from college training or previous work experience

  • Proven track record of safe laboratory practices and methodology

  • Hands-on experience in polymer analysis techniques such as thermal characterization instruments, microscopy, FTIR is highly preferred

  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed; demonstration of flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment; Good oral and written communications skills

  • Strong data analysis skills, familiar with basic statistical analysis using Excel, Minitab, JMP, etc.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
