Process Engineer contract opportunity located North of the Charlotte, NC area with a leading chemical processing company. This role combines process optimization with hands-on management of Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, offering an opportunity to drive significant improvements and contribute to the long-term success of several plants in the region. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented individual with a technical background in chemical engineering and proven experience in managing projects from conception through to construction and commissioning. Travel to plants located in the region is required.

responsibilities:
- Analyze existing chemical processes to identify opportunities for improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Develop and implement solutions to optimize production and reduce waste.
- Lead and manage all phases of CapEx projects, including scope development, cost estimation, scheduling, and obtaining necessary approvals.
- Oversee the detailed engineering design for capital projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and company policies. This includes the development of P&IDs, equipment specifications, and layout drawings.
- Supervise and coordinate construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Lead the commissioning and startup of new equipment and processes, ensuring a smooth transition to operations.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and contractors. Manage relationships with external partners to ensure the successful execution of projects.
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the operations team to resolve process-related issues and ensure the reliability of plant assets.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a chemical processing plant or similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing CapEx projects, including a demonstrated understanding of project management principles, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Proven experience in overseeing construction activities in an industrial setting, with a focus on safety and quality.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical engineering principles, process control systems, and process safety management (PSM).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Travel to the plants located in the region as needed
