Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Provides Chemical Process Engineering expertise to assure safe and economical operation of all plant and steamfield chemical and waste systems, including optimization of environmental control systems; design, development and construction of new or modified chemical systems. Develops protocols for the safe handling and use of all plant chemicals to ensure operational activities are in accordance with procedures, schedules, budget and regulatory compliance. Directs and assists Chemistry staff conducting tests to evaluate chemical and environmental processes, collecting and analyzing data, and developing operational and project plans to optimize performance. Responsible for providing chemical technical support to operations, maintenance, technical services, environmental and safety departments on all chemical aspects related to H2S abatement, sulfur handling, hazardous waste, corrosion control, steamfield, chemical cleaning, and water treatment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Solid, working knowledge of chemical process engineering and power generation.
  • Experienced professional with full understanding of job, company and industry practices.
  • Performs in a fully-capable capacity equivalent to a journey-level contributor.
  • Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline.
  • Solves operational problems and associated technical issues; modifies existing methods, techniques or processes.
  • Works on problems of moderate complexity.
  • Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices. Interprets guidelines, select methods, techniques and analytical approach.
  • Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  • May be designated project or technical lead for an ongoing process or project within own department.
  • Monitors contractors and coordinates work by technicians for process systems analysis.
  • Information sharing gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instruction and reporting results.
  • Makes recommendations for and authorizes chemical process changes.
  • Technical reports and presentations demonstrating a professional skill level.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with process engineering experience.
  • Journey-level, full functioning engineer; typically requires 3+ years' experience.

Salary Information

  • Salary Range - $95,162.28 - $121,331.91
