Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Manager - James | Digital Pathology Department: James | James Lab Scope of Position The Pathology Support Services and Digital Pathology Program provide continuity of care for patients of OSUWMC as it relates to surgical pathology cases that are performed at OSUWMC as well as cases that originate at outside institutions and are now being referred for secondary review at OSUWMC. These services support clinical care, clinical trials, and research activities of OSUWMC physicians as relates to pathology specimens and Digital Pathology Services. The Digital Pathology Program utilizes high-throughput automated scanners to capture slide images, which are viewed digitally through utilization of imaging software. The digital images are interpreted by a pathologist, and findings are utilized to support diagnosis for patient care, clinical trials, and research activities. The Clinical Laboratory Manager will be responsible for assisting in all pre and post analytical steps involved in digitizing slides received from outside clients for research purposes as well as telepathology and second opinion consultation via digital avenues. This includes problem resolution of software and hardware, end user training and support, guidance and assistance with validation and quality assurance of images. The Clinical Laboratory Manager will perform data review of errors, as well as equipment knowledge and troubleshooting for end to end digital pathology workflows, as it pertains to outreach clients. Position Summary The Lab Manager position is responsible for the daily operations of the Pathology Support Services and Digital Pathology Program. Technical and medical activities are in coordination with Chair of Pathology, the Director of Anatomic Pathology and the Director of Surgical Pathology. Duties include timekeeping, performance evaluations, technical work, assisting with CAP/CLIA compliance, QA, safety, purchasing, and assisting with budgeting. Monitors fiscal reports and handles personnel issues. Responsible for technical and operation policy and procedure updates and communicating changes to staff. This Lab Manager is also responsible for facilitating research operations and collaborations. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree Required Qualifications Bachelor?s degree with MT, (ASCP) certification or Bachelor?s degree in a biological science with HTL, CT or PA (ASCP) certification or Associate degree with MLT or HT, (ASCP) with 5 years of post-degree laboratory experience. Previous supervisory / management experience highly desirable.
