The University of Louisville Chemical Engineering Department is seeking a Temporary Engineering Senior Researcher. We are seeking a highly skilled candidate with a strong background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and specialized expertise in hemodynamics associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering and demonstrate a proven track record of applying CFD methodologies to complex biological or medical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and execute advanced CFD simulations to analyze and optimize hemodynamic parameters in CAD-related applications.
Collaborate with clinicians to translate simulation insights into practical solutions for cardiovascular health.
Develop, validate, and refine high-fidelity 3D models of blood flow and vessel geometry using industry-standard CFD software.
Analyze simulation results to provide actionable recommendations for design improvements and clinical interventions.
Document methodologies, results, and best practices for internal knowledge sharing and external publication.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in CFD and cardiovascular engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
Extensive, hands-on experience with CFD analysis and modeling, including proficiency with leading CFD software tools.
In-depth knowledge of hemodynamics, particularly in the context of coronary artery disease and cardiovascular flow phenomena.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex simulation data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
Familiarity with experimental validation techniques for CFD models.
Prior publication of peer-reviewed research in CFD hemodynamics.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
