OVERVIEW:

The Scientist will join a technical team that is responsible for building applied molecular diagnostic tests that meet clinical and analytic requirements (FDA, ISO, CLIA/CAP and NYS CLEP). The individual is expected to contribute independently and as a team player. The primary responsibility will be as a bench scientist who will design, execute, analyze, and appropriately document experiments to support the objectives within the Research and Development team. They will also provide leadership to junior team members. The individual will work with external partners, including pharmaceutical companies, technology providers and academic collaborators and internally with cross-functional product development teams including, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Lab Operations, IT, Quality and Regulatory departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executing on company objectives
  • Working within a team to construct, optimize and implement robust and reliable products using both proteomic and genomic platforms with a focus on NGS
  • Analyzing data and solving problems of diverse scope where analysis requires computational capabilities
  • Driving diverse research and development projects, completing projects in a timely manner, and complying with documentation and quality policies
  • Collaborating with personnel within and outside the department and company
  • Preparing and/or updating documentation including notebooks, protocols/reports, presentations, and SOPs to meet technical, regulatory, and business requirements
  • Maintaining familiarity with literature and developments related to liquid biopsy, molecular diagnostics, and applicable technologies

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Outstanding bench-work in molecular proteomics is required including demonstrated competence in advanced mass spectrometry approaches for clinical applications. Ongoing training will be provided to supplement key skills required to perform the functions of this position as applicable.
  • Knowledge of advanced proteomic techniques, informatics platforms and pipelines
  • Competent to optimize and troubleshoot molecular proteomic assays at the bench
  • Analytic skills and a desire to learn and follow data processing and analysis procedures
  • Demonstrated competence in creating and managing good documentation practices
  • Working knowledge of general laboratory testing procedures, HIPM, laboratory safety procedures, analytic skills
  • Ability and willingness to support the team, as well as initiate and follow through on individual tasks aligned with high level objectives
  • Experience with molecular diagnostic test development and implementation is desired
  • Prefer a disciplined individual with a track record of excellence in the development and implementation of clinical laboratory testing with a focus beyond basic research and proof of concept work
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, or similar field
  • May also include exceptional individuals without an advanced degree by approval
  • 3 years minimum of hands-on mass spectrometry experience
  • Regulated lab experience, a plus.

Position title will be commensurate with experience. Individual base compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related aspects.
