Chemist III is an advanced-level position with limited supervision, independently performing a comprehensive range of complex chemical testing and analysis on pharmaceutical substances. This position will utilize technical expertise to ensure all procedures comply with established protocols and regulations. Responsibilities included performing High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Ion Exchange Chromatography (IC) testing to qualitative and quantitatively analyze routine and non-routine pharmaceutical substances and formulations. This role also requires proficiency with multiple computers and software including the use of Microsoft Office products, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and various other web-based systems to execute daily tasks efficiently.

This incumbent will adopt a mentorship-oriented approach, aiding and guidance to less experienced lab staff. Additionally, collaborating across departments to address complex technical and operational challenges, fostering a collaborative work environment. This role involves partnering with senior laboratory personnel to interpret and develop solutions that maximize the department's output. The Chemist III position may also lead strategic projects at times.

Work Restrictions: Because of the vital nature of this work, we are regulated by the FDA and DEA and do not allow medical marijuana cards, and we do random drug testing on all our employees.

This is a full-time position.

Work Schedule: Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Essential Functions...

  • Strict adherence to Standard Laboratory Operations and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and mobile required for testing within designated laboratory environments.
  • Coach department personnel on non-routine complex testing procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform Chemical and laboratory testing and accurately record and document all processes in the laboratory notebook and information systems with adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and QMS compliance.
  • Collaborate and generate innovative ideas involving process improvements and efficiency, occasionally leading the discussion with junior department personnel.
  • Perform non-routine and complex tasks with analytical laboratory equipment including but not limited to High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Ion Exchange Chromatography (IC).
  • Conduct Out of Specifications (OOS) Investigations on various tests including Chromatography and determine and recommend appropriate solutions per QMS standards.
  • Manages chemicals with the classifications of Toxic, Corrosive, Flammable, or Oxidizing.
  • Evaluate, advise, and execute the implementation of new technologies, techniques, equipment, and processes to achieve department goals and business objectives.
  • Adhere to, use, and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Laboratory Safety Equipment and identify hazards that may arise.
  • Complete all safety training including but not limited to OSHA, Departmental SOPs, and Company Compliance

Position Requirements...

  • A BS in chemistry or related science with 3+ years industrial experience
  • Master's in chemistry or related science with 4 years industrial experience preferred

This job operates in a laboratory environment. Attendance at the office is required.

Physical Demands...

This position often requires standing for prolong periods of time; dexterity in fingers and hands to perform complex and precise manipulations; ability to walk and stood; ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; see in the normal visual range including the ability to distinguish colors and shades and hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
