The AuthRuntimeClient (ARC) team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to build, deliver, and maintain complex products that delight our customers and raise our performance bar. ARC handles every single request across all AWS Services, sustaining over a billion transactions per second. We are building the most secure, reliable, scalable, and performant authentication and authorization platform on the planet. Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, youll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

You will:

- Solve challenging technical problems, often ones not solved before, at every layer of the stack.
- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
- Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and solve complex problems from first principles.
- Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
- Launch, own, support, and continuously improve your solutions for the benefit of our customers.

A day in the life
As you design and code solutions to help our team improve authorization across AWS, youll write design docs, implement improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects.

Youll also:

- Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
- Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.
- Work in a fast-paced development environment, where youre always working on the most important stuff.

The AuthRuntimeClient team provides authentication and authorization to all services at AWS. We are a critical part of how customers around the world access their resources, which give us global reach and scale. ARC sits at the center of security and innovation, often needing novel approaches to solve complex problems spanning millions of customers and most AWS services. While we move fast, we also have to look around corners and anticipate the peculiar ways AWS services work. On the ARC team, every day is a different challenge!

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
