DescriptionThe Entry-Level Chemical Operator is responsible for performing all functions necessary for the manufacturing of finished products. The Entry-Level Chemical Operator performs a variety of tasks related to shipping and receiving, loading and unloading trucks, handling hazardous chemicals, packaging finished products and general duties assigned within the facility which are necessary to ensure efficiency within overall operations. This role serves as an entry level role in learning the overall site operations and offers growth into a Chemical Operator for the facility.

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:

Ensures workplace safety by participating in the Behavior Based Safety Observations while practicing and following all site safety policies, guidelines, and procedures

Complies with all Aurorium Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Documents work according to FDA regulations

Packages, drums, and loads chemicals safely and efficiently

Includes filling drums or other containers to proper weight (both manually and using automated equipment), using proper labeling, etc.

Handles disposal of all hazardous waste properly and in accordance with policies to ensure compliance

Achieves production needs and goals consistently while making efforts to minimize product shrink and downtime

Adheres to all Aurorium Standard Operating Procedures

Operates forklift truck to move and stack filled drums or containers

Maintains detailed records and documents shift information on the Standard Work form completed daily

Performs daily activities independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with the Operating Team Leader (OTL)

Assists in cross-training team members and co-workers as needed

Understands and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events

Maintains outstanding housekeeping and 5S

Performs other duties as assigned

Compliance:

Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements

Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly

Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

Problem Solving and Innovation:

Active participation in continuous improvement activities

Participates in problem-solving

Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business

Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members

Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Additional IATA Certification, IMDG Certification or DOT preferred

1 year of experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant preferred

Experience wearing required PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, and a respirator

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities

Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment

Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills

Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, working outside in all weather conditions, climbing ladders, etc.

Willingness to work a non-standard shift, weekends, and/or overtime required
