JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform analyses on finished products, raw materials, and components including entry, review, and/or approval of data in lab notebooks and a computerized database (LIMS).
- Follow standardized test methods, procedures, and work instructions, document test results, and communicate status of test results. Collaborate with peers and cross-departmentally.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and other materials needed for testing. Monitor chemical and reference standard inventory supply.
- Ensure all documentation and quality records are conducted in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements.
- Demonstrate and develop experience on Polarimeter, Densitometer, Refractometer, Viscometer, FTIR, UV-Vis, Titrations, Organoleptic evaluation, and other analytical techniques, including troubleshooting, minor maintenance, calibrations, and minor repairs.
- Author and review lab Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and forms.
- Communicate frequently with team members and management about sample and instrument status, out of specification results, and other work-related topics.
- Perform lab cleaning and maintain an organized work environment.
- Support all continuous improvement activities, including suggesting methods for increasing efficiency of chemistry lab operations.
- Must be available for ad hoc meetings, calls, or questions during business hours.
- While the company does strive to maintain a safe workplace, this position requires that employees in this role contribute to a safe work environment by following all safety related procedures and detecting and reporting potential hazards.
- May be asked to perform non-routine work on occasion to assist the department.
- Other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and Experience:
- 0-1+ years full time progressively responsible work in a laboratory setting.
- Some college education in a science field preferred.
2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work under the close direction of senior personnel and/or a supervisor.
- Ability to work in close proximity to products with strong aromas.
- Basic mathematical skills, deductive reasoning skills, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, basic computer programs, and laboratory software.
- Ability to communicate in a timely manner by reading, writing, and speaking in English, including in person real-time communication.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and plan tasks to achieve daily workload.
- Basic knowledge of chemical and solution handling.
- Ability to traverse varying distances and travel between different floors of the building. Traveling between buildings (outside) may be required occasionally.
- Must be able to elevate and/or move up to 40 pounds, with assistance.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to closed toed shoes, lab coats, safety glasses/goggles, nitrile/latex gloves, and face shields.
- Ability to manipulate small objects such as bottle lids, small hand tools, etc.
- Must maintain positive relationships in the workplace by treating others with respect, dignity, and integrity.
- Must work well in a team environment.
