Associate Scientist, In Vivo Interventional Oncology

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team focused on exploratory immuno-oncology. This role will be instrumental in the evaluation and understanding of new drug concepts both in vitro and in vivo, contributing to efforts to alter the course of lung cancer and improve patient survival.

responsibilities:
- Execute in vivo experimentation, including tumor implantation, dosing, and handling of investigational drugs (including chemotherapeutics), tumor volume measurements, and collection of tissues/tumors for downstream analysis.
- Perform daily monitoring of ongoing in vivo experiments, working closely with in vivo sciences staff and veterinary teams to monitor animal welfare and health.
- Assist with the planning, design, and execution of various in vivo syngeneic and xenograft tumor studies, utilizing established guidelines for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct in vitro human and ex vivo mouse immunology experiments to support ongoing immune-oncology portfolios, including assays using cancer cell, myeloid, and T-cell based co-cultures.
- Perform tumor cell biology analysis, including analysis of PDX lines and tumor dissociated materials, to investigate the Mechanism of Action (MoA) of investigational drugs.
- Apply diverse cellular and molecular biology techniques and assays (e.g., cell/organoid culture, compound screening, FACS, ELISA, MSD, western blotting, qRT-PCR, cell transfections & transductions, viral productions).
- Support the discovery biology team with experimental set-up, assay optimization, analyzing data using appropriate statistical methods, and preparing data for presentation-ready format and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) entry.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and stay compliant with all relevant internal and external training requirements.
qualifications:
- Education & Experience: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Tumor Immunology) with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory-based experience in industry/biotech or an academic setting.
- In Vivo Expertise:
- Experience with animal handling in oncology-relevant rodent models, including subcutaneous and orthotopic tumor implantation techniques, dosing, proper handling of therapeutics, tumor measurement, health monitoring, data collection, and analysis.
- Experience with adherence to animal welfare and compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in drug administration via subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intravenous tail vein injections, and oral gavage.
- Ability to perform blood collection by tail vein, saphenous vein, and cardiac puncture.
- Capability to perform animal autopsy/dissection, microsurgery, perfusion, and tissue collection.
- Core Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player mentality, with the ability to interact effectively with people in a matrix environment.
- Strong organizational, data management, and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Graphpad Prism.
- Experience with cell culture of cancer or immune cells.
- Experience with bioluminescent imaging, flow cytometry, IHC, ELISA/MSD.
- Demonstrated learning agility and the ability to work across multiple projects.
