Position Summary:
The Centerfor Student Entrepreneurship (CSE) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking specialists toserve as Global Entrepreneurs inResidence (GEIRs) to mentor students in specific STEM fields.
This is a part-time,in-person position (up to 20 hours per week) located at NJITs Newark campus at theCSE.
Essential Functions:
-Support technology entrepreneurs working on ventures in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
-Provide scientific mentorship, interpret research data and outcomes, and guide the translation of biochemical innovations into commercially viable products.
-Help align projects with regulatory and commercialization pathways.
-Provide guidance to undergraduate or graduate entrepreneurs focused on the life sciences industry including entrepreneurs innovating and developing therapeutics, diagnostics, or gene-based technologies.
-Advise students on experimental design and molecular biology techniques.
-Support data interpretation, scientific reporting, and technical documentation and prepare reports and recommendations accordingly
-Assist in pitch preparation, customer discovery, grant writing, and research funding strategy.
-Participate in and help coordinate events including pitch competitions, demo days, and speaker series.
-Provide entrepreneurial mentorship to student entrepreneurs working on early-stage ventures and innovation projects.
-Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive student entrepreneurial community across campus. Actively promote CSE services to students and the broader NJIT community through events and visibility efforts.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Minimum of two years experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
-Minimum bachelors degree.
-Accredited masters degree or a bachelors degree with significant experience in a relevant field such as pharmaceutical chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, or other related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Entrepreneurial experience in starting or running your own business; holding a leadership position in a startup preferred.?
-Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
-Experience in planning, organizing, conducting training and business development activities related to entrepreneurial ventures.
-Acceptance into the NJIT Center for Student Entrepreneurships GEIR Cohort.
Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate $42.99 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
